“Let me take a selfie” challenge

Hi all,

Wow, another month has ticked over! How does that keep happening!? I’m super excited about summer being over, but really the best thing about a new month is the new challenge over at Scrap The Girls!

So, for this month the challenge is called “First, Let’s Take A #Selfie”. Yep, you guessed it. It’s all about the Selfie.

This should be an easy one with all the selfies hanging around on our phones, but I know it can be a challenge to scrapbook yourself. I encourage you all to have a go, it’s important we are in the scrapbooks too!

I grabbed a selfie that some girlfriends and I had taken late one drunken evening (oops!), it was a little grainy and blurry (read: drunk), so I made it black and white to hide the blur!

I love how using a B&W photo gives you a so many options! I went for a grungy layout with a pop of yellow, and lots of texture through stencils and stamps. This page makes me smile and reminds me of how much (messy) fun we had that night!

Make sure you pop by the Scrap The Girls blog to check out the rest of the DT layouts, and why not give the #selfie challenge a go!

I’m on the team!!

Hi All,

I’m excited to be able to share that I am lucky enough to join the Design Team over at Scrap The Girls challenge blog! With the team notified before Christmas, it’s been pretty tough keeping a lid on this little secret! And what an awesome team they are, I have admired some of these ladies for a long time!

And straight into the challenges we hopped! First up we have a sketch challenge. This one was tricky as it incorporated multiple pics, and with my Selphy printer on the blink, I had to pull pics from my stash.

Boy, I’m pleased that I did! I really love how this layout shows many of my youngest daughters silly faces, and tells more of a story about her personality than one photo would have.

I had fun with this layout, getting messy with some dylusions paints and digging into Crate Paper’s cute girl collection.

Make sure you hop over to the Scrap The Girls page and check out the challenge. Why not jump in and have a go yourself, there’s a great prize up for grabs from Kit the Habit.

I hope you join in the fun!

Until next time,

One last one for March!

Hi there,

I’m back again today to share another challenge layout. This time I’m giving a new one a go, having a play over at Scrapbooking Top 50 for their March challenge – Sweet.

The inspiration board was super cute, and  there were so many lovely layouts  popping up all over my feeds, I just had to give it a go.

So here’s my interpretation…

I drew the inspiration for the background from some paper I had seen floating around, with wood grain fading into pink, and had a go at creating it myself. I very lightly gessoed the bottom half of the page, and then painted over it with some Pink Hiedi Shine. I think it looks so pretty!

Thanks for stopping by!

Donut Love

This week I had a bit more of a play with my texture paste and my Flutterby Designs love heart stencil. Inspired by a layout from Anita Rodway from Flutterby Designs, I mixed up some colours to run across the stencil to create a really vibrant background. I love how it turned out!

The colours inspired a fun and playful layout. I dug deep into my stash for some embellies and ended up with butterflies, not my usual thing, but I think they add to the fun!

Lots of layers behind the photo and more Flutterby  products up top with the photo tabs.

Love it!

Holy Moley, how did March get here??

Where did January and February go??? I’m really not happy about the year passing by so quickly, but at least a new month means a new crop of challenges!

So, here I am, back again to share the first of my March challenge layouts! Playing along at Kraft+ blog with their ‘A hint of hound’ challenge.

I really thought I was going to have no chance of completing a layout for this challenge, I’m really not a fan of Houndstooth and didn’t expect to find any in my stash! But lo and behold, I had 3 different papers! One of which was a very old Stampin’ up paper I have been hanging on to for yonks! Felt good to use that up!

The other element of the challenge was to work with the sketch. I loved working with this! It’s been a while since I’ve done a sketch challenge, it’s kind of nice to have the page mapped out for you!

So here it is! Love the busy, grungy page I was able to come up with. Feels like I punked up boring old houndstooth a bit!

CRAZY KIDS!
